PACARTS '08 - Rapa Nui Rocks Veterans' Memorial Stadium

Rapa Nui (Easter Island) didn't disappoint last night at Veterans' Memorial Stadium. The performance took a little longer to set up than the delegations that preceded them, but the audience didn't mind as this was a much awaited event. Throughout the evening the crowd continued to swell in numbers before the Rapa Nui delegation took to the stage to cheers, hooting, and laughter.

The performers for Rapa Nui were dressed in, what can only be described as, very revealing traditional garb. Regardless, the crowd pressed forward as the performance began and it became difficult to get a clear shot of the stage. The performance was engaging, as it was entertaining. The influences of the Native American infusions were easily apparent, just as they were softened by the sensuality of the Polynesian movements.

Rapa Nui - Both fun and different, and a must see if you're able to make it to any of the venues where they'll be performing.
